Danielle Elizabeth Bledy

Danielle Bledy

June 2nd, 1993 to December 4th, 2006

Danielle was a unique, special girl with beautiful hazel eyes and a huge, beaming smile. She was a joy to us – a loving daughter who enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to snuggle on the sofa, watching movies. Every night she liked to be tucked into bed and given a good night kiss.

Danielle woke up with a severe headache one morning. She was rushed to Virtua Hospital where she was stabilized for transport to CHOP. She underwent surgery to remove the clot that resulted from the massive bleed from the ruptured brain aneurysm . After three days she was removed from life support because she was not going to recover. She died surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Danielle loved animals, especially dogs. She knew every dog in the neighborhood. She herself had two dogs and a hamster, and was always looking out for other animals. She volunteered at PetSmart with her mother in the adoption room, and was planning to start volunteering at the Animal Orphanage in Voorhees before her untimely death.

The mascot of our charity was drawn by Danielle herself, and represents her dog Jake.

We started this website to keep Danielle’s memory alive, and to share the special life she lived. She touched more people in her thirteen short years of life than most people do in a lifetime. Danielle never had an unkind word or deed for anyone. She was true to herself and refused to conform just to fit in. She loved wearing jeans and T-shirts and her Chuck Taylor’s. It was rare that she wore a dress, but when she did she looked beautiful. She loved playing the guitar, and we can still hear the opening chords of “Smoke on the Water.”

Animals were her passion, and Danielle planned to become a vet. We have donated to the Animal Orphanage in her memory, so look for her plaque on one of the cages when you visit.

She also loved basketball, and played daily with her friends on the block. I can’t listen to the sound of the basketball bouncing outside without seeing her playing in my mind. We have sent several local students from Sharp Elementary and Beck Middle school to various camps, including Great Times Day Camp , who generously donated several weeks tuition. There is a memorial at the camp in her memory. We have also donated several scholarships to deserving CHHS East students, as well as a $10,000 chair of research to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation in Danielle’s name.

We are looking to support Danielle’s passions through the charity, as well as raise funds to donate to research brain aneurysms, the silent killer that took her life.

Please look for Past events on the website, such as the 5K Run/ 1 Mile Walk in June 2010.
